Gr. 4 Kite Flying

The Fourth Grade students explored and learned about the countries of Korea and India for their annual FourthFest exhibition and celebration. Throughout the past 3 months, students delved into the history, culture, and traditions of these two unique and fascinating countries. The students quickly realized, like most Asian countries, both countries celebrate an annual kite day. In South Korea the festival is called the Uiseong Kite Festival and in India it is called the Uttarayan Festival. To honor both countries, the students designed traditional patong and bangpae yeon (kites) made out of authentic material from one of the two respective countries. On a beautiful spring day, students had the opportunity to fly their kites. The students were very excited to see their kites take off into the wind.
