Lower School Curriculum

Early Childhood (PK-Grade 1)

Our faculty pride themselves in knowing how each student learns. Small class size helps to establish close relationships with students and their families, providing a welcoming environment where children are encouraged to learn from each other.

An integrated creative arts, world language, physical education, and technology program starting in PK prepare our students for the demands of the 21st century when students are asked to think globally, be technologically savvy, creative, and fit. Homeroom and non-homeroom teachers have regular collaborative meeting time to allow for the development and refinement of an integrated curriculum. Brimmer's Core Values—Respect, Responsibility, Kindness, Honesty, and Equity—inspire students to think and act as responsible and ethical citizens within our local and global communities.

Upper Elementary (Grades 2-5)

Fostering independence and developing leadership skills while also learning to be effective collaborators are truly the underpinnings of our upper elementary academic and social programs. Through hands-on, innovative, and authentic projects that encourage curiosity, our students are encouraged to create their own path and discover their passions. Our job is to inspire our students to be active learners and avid problem solvers, and to empower them to lead and become responsible global stewards.

With our fourth and fifth graders as role models for our students in the lower grades, we are helping all of our students to become honest, respectful, responsible, and kind citizens in our ever-changing world.
