Brimmer celebrated the opening of the new Hastings Center on October 2, 2017, with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Middle and Upper School students, Lower School representatives, Trustees, parents, faculty, staff, and representatives from Perkins+Will, Bowdoin Construction, and Skanska gathered on the field and then headed over to the Hastings Center.
The Hastings Center, a two-story addition to the Chase Building, houses state-of-the-art innovation, STEAM, Media, and Maker Labs; a college counseling and career readiness center; and new classrooms, dining, and community areas. The addition was made possible through the generosity of almost 400 community members including parents, alumni, trustees, and friends of the School.
Head of School Judith Guild welcomed the community on what was a very momentous day for Brimmer. Board Chair David Kreisler thanked the members of our Campaign Steering Committee for their hard work and leadership, including Susie Durocher, Carrie Farmer, Kennie Grogan, Jeff Grogan, Lisa Hastings, Mark Hastings, and Linda Waintrup. He said, “Their involvement is the reason we have accomplished so much and their enthusiasm and energy has kept us all going. I would also like to thank the whole Board of Trustees for your support and unwavering belief in the strategic priorities and members of the Building Committee in particular Howard Leeder for following all of the details of this project.”
The Brimmer community then made its way to the front of the Hastings Center where Mark and Lisa Hastings P ’18, ’19 officially cut the Brimmer ribbon with an oversized pair of scissors, marking the opening of the Hastings Center.
Students in all divisions celebrated with delicious “We Did It” cookies at lunch.
