Gr. 6 & 8 Exploration Week

Each year, during the week before Spring Break, when grade 7 is in Washington, D.C., the Middle School conducts Exploration Week for students in grades 6 and 8. The goal of Exploration Week is to expose students to a variety of learning opportunities and experiences to enhance their understanding and enjoyment of their studies across disciplines.

In addition to many of their regular classes, students immersed themselves in experiential learning. eighth graders explored engineering through an algebraic lens with Dr. Mark Love. The eighth grade planned to visit the Museum of Science with an interactive demonstration on different types of energy and force in preparation for their upcoming physics unit in science class, but the trip was postponed due to snow.

The sixth graders visited the galleries of Greek sculpture and ceramics at the Museum of Fine Arts. They completed a challenge where they found and identified several of the gods and goddesses they have been studying in their humanities classes. They also drew and described ancient Greek ceramics in preparation for their upcoming ceramics unit in creative arts. Students in both grades participated in a full day scavenger hunt in Boston.
