Grade 5 Capstone Exhibition
Did you know that this year marked the 26th anniversary of the Grade 5 Capstone Exhibition? Though many parts of the project have changed with the times, the essence remains the same. The exhibition is part of a long-term research project, an exciting rite of passage, and a culminating experience for the Lower School. As part of the curriculum in the humanities throughout the year, students explore the essential question of “What is Independence?” For the Capstone, each student addresses that question by focusing on a person, group, political/social movement, or event from the historical eras the class has studied. Guided by an exhibition advisor, students prepare a written composition, create an original visual component, and make an oral presentation of their work to an audience of adults and fellow students.
