Tough Loss to Boston Trinity

The varsity boys’ soccer team lost a tough game 3 - 1 at league rivals Boston Trinity Academy. The first few minutes of the game were very even with both teams probing the other for weaknesses. Just under ten minutes into the game, BTA’s striker was fouled in the box and awarded a penalty kick, which BTA promptly converted to give them the lead. The Gators looked to get back into the game and rookie forward Sevak Glorikian ’23came close twice in a three-minute period. Unfortunately, BTA doubled their lead not long after when they were awarded a free kick 25 yards out. Goal keeper George Purdy ‘23looked like he had the shot covered only for it to be deflected from its path at close range. The Gators got back into the game with a well worked goal to make it 2 - 1. Tristan Durocher ’21sent a beautifully weighted header over the BTA defensive line for Charlie Marconi ’20. Charlie perfectly timed his run to beat the offside trap and was through on goal with just the keeper to beat. The BTA keeper spread himself out to make himself as big as possible, but Charlie kept his cool and sent a quality shot past the keeper into the goal.
The Gators came out in the second half with increased intensity and challenged the BTA defense. However, BTA have a number of players with superior pace and some good foot skills, and the tired Brimmer defense got caught a step too slow and BTA got the lead back up to two goals. The Gators continued to push until the final whistle, but they just could not find the back of the net.
