Down Pour did not stop Cross Country

The Brimmer and May boy’s and girl’s cross country teams competed in a rainy meet at the Jericho Forest course of CSW this past week. While the weather was a torrential rain such that all of the score sheets for the teams were unusable, the Gators still put up a valiant effort. The boy’s team was led by Brian Gamble (’23) who won the meet. This was his third straight MBIL victory, narrowly beating the second place Waring runner. Brimmer’s second and third boy runners also had strong showings, with captain Richard O’Keefe (’20) placing third and Clayton Mclaren (’21) placing fourth. Overall, the boys had a score of 53 points. The girl’s team was led by captain Anja Westhues (’20), who placed fifth out of a field of about forty runners. Brimmer’s second, third, and fourth runners (Leah Bell ’22, Sophia Spring ’22, and Talia Hammer ’23) all finished as a pack, placing 17-19. The Brimmer teams race again Tuesday, 9 October at Gann, where they hope for better weather.
