Gators ran well in tough winds

The Brimmer and May Gators cross country team raced in cold and windy conditions at Gann Academy this past week. Unfortunately, due to some injuries, Brimmer’s girls cross country team was not able to field a scoring team this week. The girls who were able to compete put forth some top-notch finishes, despite the brutal wind. Senior rookie Lizzie Weber (’20) was the first from Brimmer across the finish line, placing 11th. She was closely followed by Sophia Spring (’22) and Talia Hammer (’23), who had a personal best time of 26:12 for 5k. On the boys side, the Gators continued their domination of the MBIL, coming in first place out of nine teams. The top five Brimmer runners placed 1st (Brian Gamble ’23), 3rd (Richard O’Keefe ’20), 4th (Clayton Mclaren ’21), 13th (Tyler Reif ’24), and 24th (Edan Zinn ’23), combining for a low score of 45. Gamble extended his winning streak within the MBIL to four meets in a row. Jonas Peña (’24) finished his first race of the season for Brimmer, placing 34th, just behind the Gator’s sixth runner, Reese Quezada (’21). The cross country teams hope for warmer weather at their race next week on Wednesday at Waring.
