Gators with a Shut out

The varsity boys soccer team earned another important road win 3 - 0 at Waring. After a 90 minute bus ride and limited warm up time, the Gators were slow to start and Waring had the better of the first 15 minutes of play. The lads finally started to look like theirselves midway through the half and started to put together some excellent attacks, but the final touch just wasn’t there and the ball either went over the bar or straight to the keeper. The Gators finally took the lead about ten minutes before halftime. Olivier Khorasani ’20 sent a corner kick into the waring area, and the keeper leapt to take it out of the air, however, he only got his fingertips to the ball and it fell at the feet of Sevak Glorikian ’23, who made no mistake from close range and drove the ball into the back of the net. Two minutes later, scorer turned provider when Sevak split two defenders with a pass that put Charlie Marconi ’20 through on goal with only the keeper to beat. Charlie, as he has done with regularity this season, kept his cool in front of goal sent a shot past the diving Waring keeper to make it 2 - 0. The Gators dominated play in the second half but were unable to add to their lead until the final five minutes of the game. Like the first goal, the opportunity came from an Olivier corner kick, which bounced around in the box a couple of times before Miles Munkacy ’20 finally bundled the ball home. The defense had a solid game and helped Joseph Bahhady ’21 earn his fifth shut out of the season.
The Gators are back in action on Friday, when they travel to the Cambridge School of Weston for their final regular season league game of the 2019 campaign.
