Gators fight hard but come up short

The Gators came ready to play, but Montrose’s aggressive press helped them come out to a large lead in the first quarter.  At the end of the first quarter the Gators were down fifteen points.  The Gators didn’t throw in the towel, instead they did the opposite.  It started by getting stops on the defensive end, taking care of the basketball, and knocking down some shots.  Alyssa Aslam ’25 hit two HUGE three’s and a layup to bring the Gators back in the game.  Going into the half the Gators were only down by 9 points.  Montrose’s aggressiveness in the third quarter put them at an 11-point lead going into the fourth quarter.   Lizzie Weber ‘20 and Leah Bell ’21 helped the Gators get within five points of Montrose by each hitting a three-pointer.  In the end, Montrose held on to win by 12 points.  The Gators next game is at home on today at 5:00pm vs. Gann Academy.
