Great to be BACK!

After over two years of not putting on a Brimmer uniform, the Varsity Girls Soccer team took the field for the first home game of the season. Senior captains Elisabeth Fitzgerald and Iris Bishins helped the team work through their nerves during warm ups. Kaylee Little came out goal hungry and slotted an unassisted goal past the St. Andrew's goalkeeper 6 minutes into the first half. Elisabeth Fitzgerald quickly followed by putting one in the back of the net about a minute later. 9th Grader Sophia Horning made her presence known in the midfield and tallied her first high school goal 13 minutes into the game. She would then assist Kaylee Little’s second goal of the game three minutes later. The fast moving St. Andrew's front line was able to break down Brimmer's defense and put one past goalkeeper Grace Pappas, who went on to make six saves in the first half of her high school debut. Kaylee Little found the back of the net one more time before the half closed out, making the score 5-1.

The second half started out much like the first with Elisabeth Fitzgerald scoring off a cross from Sophia Horning. The Brimmer defense, made up of Emma Guevara, Iris Bishins, Jazzy Lang, and Kayla Pierre was confidently led by center back Leni Hicks-Dutt. Leni Hicks-Dutt’s composure on the ball kept the St. Andrew's team to just two goals for the entire game. Forward Toni Golston would get by the St. Andrew's goalkeeper and score her first Brimmer goal at the 73rd minute mark. Elisabeth Fitzgerald concluded that day with a third goal, making the score 8-2.

A big congrats to Aniyah Lesse, Tess Gainsboro, Sophia Bruno, Shyla Fernandes, Sasha Gerhard, Abby Jacobs, Haleigh Jacobs, Rachael Sobel, Maddie Pogoda, Sydney Heff, Audrey Pontiff, Natalie Aber and Stephanie Altschul, who all made their high school debuts. The Gators look forward to an away game on Friday, September 17 at Covenant Christian Academy.
