2nd game of Back to Back results in a Tie

In the second game of a back-to-back, the Gators hosted Boston University Academy at the UMass, Mt Ida playing fields. Missing the captain and midfield maestro, Brian Barerra, and striker, Anson Mancebo, the team switched formations to a 4-4-2 to better fit the available personnel. The Gators were looking to bounce back from a pair of tough losses, and dominated the early minutes of the game. Ryan Hurst and Oli Bagget played some excellent attacking soccer down the right wing and provided a number of good chances, but BUA’s goalkeeper was in good form and controlled his area well. Sevak Glorikian and Lucas Williams also manufactured good scoring opportunities, but neither could find the back of the net. On the defensive end of the pitch, Owen Williams, Xavier Claiborne, and Zach Adler were joined by rookie, Chris Myers who made his first start for the varsity team. The defensive line kept BUA to a few long range chances that Theo Johnson handled comfortably, earning the defense its first clean sheet of the season. The Gators continued to dominate the possession and tempo of the game, and as time wound down threw everything at BUA’s defense, but alas the final whistle sounded before they could score and the game ended in a nil - nil draw.
The Gators are back in action on Friday, when they host the Cambridge School of Weston at Mt Ida with kickoff set for 4:15pm.
