Warm Day Saw the Gators Stay Hot

On an unseasonably warm fall afternoon, the Gators headed North to face the Waring School in a league game. After a series of losses, to some of the best Class D teams in the area, the Gators were looking to get back into the win column. The Gators came out strong and dominated the early going, but they were unable to beat the Waring goalkeeper. However, after having a number of chances the Gators finally had a breakthrough midway through the half. Ryan Hurst played a ball through for Sevak Glorikian to run onto, Sevak took a couple of touches to bring himself into the middle of the area and slotted a shot past the keeper. Four minutes later and the Gators’ lead was doubled when Sevak won a deflected ball in the area and scored from close range. Waring got a goal back from a corner kick that was poorly defended by the Gators. Sevak then turned provider when he played a diagonal ball that split the defenders and Brian Barrera timed his run perfectly and hit a powerful shot past the diving keeper. Sevak finished his hat-trick just a few minutes later with a one-on-one with the keeper that he calmly slotted home. The 4-1 win ended the Gators’ losing streak and positions them for a run at making the playoffs in the MBIL.
