Gators suffer a nail biting loss to BTA

The Gators suffered a nail biting 4 - 3 loss to BTA at Mt Ida on Wednesday afternoon. The Gators came out ready to play and had a lead less than five minutes into the game when Anson Mancebo fed the ball through for Sevak Glorikian just inside the area. Sevak took a touch to bring it onto his left and sent a shot into the bottom corner of the goal. BTA tied it up soon after with a goal from a free kick that left the Gator’s defense standing flat-footed. Just two minutes later and the Gators had a 2 - 1 lead. Brimmer were awarded a free kick just outside the box for a BTA handball. Brian Barrera placed the ball and waited patiently while the ref positioned the wall ten yards away. When the ref blew his whistle, Brian stepped up and hit an incredible shot with top spin that went over the wall and then dipped down and went in at the bottom corner. BTA tied the game with a controversial goal about five minutes before half-time. Unfortunately, the Gators found themselves down 4 - 2 just fifteen minutes into the second half after two quick goals from BTA. The Gators worked their tails off trying to get back into the game and dominated the final ten minutes, but could only score one more goal. Brian completed his brace of goals, with the assist going to Sevak Glorikian. A tough loss to BTA split the season series with them and the three league points were split between the two teams.
