February 2023 Updates from the Library

Elyse Seltzer, Supervisor of the PK-12 Libraries

In February we celebrated Black History Month looking at Black Joy! Check out my resources for Black History Month and Black Joy.

The 8th grade participated in a live stream with Ibram X. Kendi and Nic Stone speaking about their new book How to be a (Young) Antiracist.

I collaborated with 6th grade English teacher Andrea Underhill-Curtin to speak about The Black Panther Party and the Black Power Movement to give historical context to Rita Williams-Garcia’s award-winning book One Crazy Summer.

I have been a regular in 9th grade Wellness classes to prepare them for the research skills needed for a short research project and presentation on a wellness topic of their choosing for History class.

I worked with the Art History class on finding resources pointing out the great research tools available through the Boston Public Library.
