Chris Warren '06

 

Chris Warren ’06 recently met with Alumni Relations Director Amanda Spooner Frank ’88 and Annual Fund Director Sharin Russell to talk about his Brimmer and May experience and to share what he is doing today.  

 

Chris attended Brimmer and May Upper School from 9^th grade through graduation, transferring from the Westwood public schools. His decision to enroll here was influenced by Brimmer and May’s small class setting,  greater focus on academics, and strong basketball program. 

 

While at Brimmer and May, Chris was challenged by the faculty who pushed him to take risks and ask questions. The method of teaching that Brimmer and May uses, based on the principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools, allowed him to find his voice, which he said would have been impossible at the large public school he came from. Chris recognized former Brimmer and May English Teacher Amanda Lombardo who helped him develop strong analytical thinking skills—skills he continues to use at Cambridge Associates. 

 

The deep quality of relationships that Chris developed with his teachers at Brimmer and May provided plenty of one-on-one time and led to his exceptional understanding of materials and learning. He has since developed more of an appreciation for the education he received at the School and for his parents’ commitment to ensuring the best for his future. He remembers fondly his teachers Ted Barker-Hook, Chris Hardman, and Amanda Lombardo.  He says that the depth of instruction from these stellar teachers went beyond just the classroom; it spilled over onto the basketball court and into the whole School community. 

 

After Brimmer and May, Chris attended Williams College, which he said was the perfect place to continue his thirst for knowledge and build close relationships with his professors. He majored in Economics and received honors, utilizing his analytical, quantitative, and qualitative skills that he initially developed at Brimmer and May. While at Williams, Chris took full advantage of the College’s January Term to intern at the Williams Investment Office where he helped manage the School’s endowment.

 

Currently, Chris is an Associate Consultant and Team Leader at Cambridge Associates, a well recognized investment consulting firm. He works with nine clients and oversees a group of eight analysts. He plans to attend business school and pursue his MBA in the future.
