“The School taught me a sense of responsibility for myself, for my family, and for my community.”

Caroline is an Assistant District Attorney at the Suffolk County D.A.’s office.

What are you doing currently for a profession, and how long have you been in your current position?
While at Georgetown, I served as a non-legal advocate for a mentee program called “After-School Kids Program.” I spent 6 months in Costa Rica where I worked for the Human Rights department at a juvenile detention center. These experiences led me to pursue a law degree. I am now an Assistant District Attorney at the Suffolk County D.A.’s office.

Did your education at Brimmer and May help create a path for your current life? What learned skills that you received at Brimmer have been most helpful in your day-to-day life?
My Brimmer and May education taught me how to be a student and learn effectively. It encouraged my intellectual curiosity. I felt well prepared for college, and was especially confident in my writing skills.

How would you describe your experience at Brimmer and May School, both academically and socially?
I felt that Brimmer and May was nurturing not only academically, but also socially. The School taught me a sense of responsibility for myself, for my family, and for my community.

Who from the faculty and staff left a memorable impression on you and why?
I remember my English teacher Amanda Lombardo very well. Her lesson plan on The Great Gatsby changed my academic life! I remember Ted Barker-Hook, my history teacher, as one of my most genuine teachers. He prepared me for the professors in college and beyond and was an exceptional editor. What I learned from Ted has been extremely helpful in my writing for the D.A.

What grades did you attend?
I began at Brimmer and May in 7th grade after transferring from Kingsley Montessori in Boston and stayed throughout high school.
