Michael Finn-Henry '18 Visits Brimmer

Joshua Neudel, Head of Upper School

What a thrill it was to have alumnus Michael Finn-Henry ’18 back on campus to meet with the STEAM Diploma students and talk with the Middle and Upper Schools during an assembly.

A dedicated student, high-achieving athlete, person with dyslexia, and entrepreneur, Michael’s story was engaging for the entire school. He shared how his Brimmer experience has helped him be successful in college and laid the foundation for his biomedical startup company. Classes such as Problem Solving Through Design and STEAM Lab taught him how to focus his creativity in ways that could improve the world.

One consistent message that Michael shared with students was to “embrace failure.” He credits each of his failures as an opportunity to grow, learn, and become more resilient. As he shared the story of his biomedical device startup, he noted that he focused on the one great idea that came out of the ideation process and not the rejection or failures that led up to that point. Resilience is a skill and as such is something that is developed over time through experience and preparation.
