Gr. 6 Pasta Bridges

Sixth grade engineers in Dr. Gallon’s class were tasked with designing and building a bridge made out of pasta—and were graded on a cost versus weight tolerance ratio.  As part of this STEAM project, students were broken into groups and assigned the roles of accountant, project manager, and civil engineer. Groups first created blueprints of their bridge designs and then began the building phase. After bridges were completed, they were subject to stress tests to see how much weight they could hold.
