GATORS FINISH 12th AT NEPSTA MEET

In their final race of this historic season, seven runners from the Brimmer and May cross country team traveled to Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, Connecticut for the NEPSTA Class 4 Cross Country Championships.  Although running without Kurt Slichenmyer '14 and Andrew Melton '15, two runners instrumental to the Gators' win at the MBIL Championships, the Big Green Running Machine finished 12th out of 34 schools from all of New England represented at the meet.

The formidable pack of Kyle Anderson '15, Houghton Yonge '14, Ryan Coughlin '14, and Nate Friedman '16 again led the way for the Gators, all finishing within twenty-five seconds of each other; Houghton led the way with a 45th place finish out of almost 200 runners entered.  Charlie Li '17 was Brimmer and May's 5th runner across the finish line, closely followed by Liam Conklin '19 and Alex Pan '16.  Liam, just a seventh grader who finished in front of fifty varsity harriers despite debilitating cramps, was the youngest runner to compete in any of the four varsity or junior varsity races held that day.

This was Brimmer and May's first ever trip to the NEPSTA meet, and while a fully healthy team would certainly have earned a top-ten spot in the standings, the Gators have every reason to be proud of their accomplishments last Saturday and during the entire 2013 season.
