Extended Day

Our Extended Day Program provides children with a warm, cheerful, supportive, and relaxed atmosphere that fosters sharing and cooperation. Extended Day is a true extension of Brimmer as it follows the School’s mission of promoting collaboration and a sense of personal responsibility. It runs until 5:30 p.m. from opening day to the last day of school. The schedule also includes supervised homework time in a quiet study area.

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • How do I sign my student up for Extended Day?

Parents may click here to enroll a child in Extended Day. Enrollment for the fall session is available beginning on August 1. Registration will be open throughout the year at the rate of $15 per hour.
  • What are the hours that Extended Day is offered?

Extended day care is available from dismissal time until 5:30 p.m. After 5:30 p.m., students remaining in Extended Day will be assessed a late fee of $60/hour, charged in 15 minute increments.
  • How much does Extended Day cost?

The fee for Extended Day is $15 per hour.
  • How do I sign my student up for special activities and clubs?

In order to focus on providing an outstanding Extended Day experience for our young children as we navigate our return to in-person learning, we will not be offering After School Clubs in the Fall Semester, 2020. We will bring our clubs program back when practicable. For more information please visit the Clubs page on the Brimmer website and read the weekly Brimmer Newsletter.
  • How are the students grouped during Extended Day?

Following best practices and guidance from our local, state, and federal governments, we will be cohorting children in Extended Day by grade. Each grade level will remain in their classroom with scheduled outdoor play time and mask breaks. One teacher will be assigned to each cohort and we will limit group and teacher mixing where practicable and possible. We will follow the school’s best practices with respect to hand hygiene, frequent surface cleaning, and mask wearing.
  • Can I use Extended Day on a day-to-day or “drop in” basis?

Families must register for Extended Day in advance for the 2020-21 School Year. Drop-in coverage is not an option this year. If students remain on campus after dismissal and have not registered for Extended Day, we will call the parent / guardian of record and insist that the child be picked up.
