Stephanie Golas

Ms. Golas used her grant to purchase a variety of audio solutions for the Lower School Library. These books and devices are used in the library, for teachers to borrow for classroom use, and for student borrowing. Most of these tools are already being deployed in public libraries and have been well tested for reliability and quality.

The first item is two types of audiointegrated books called Wonderbooks and Vox Books. Both have similar functionality, as they are traditional print books with an optional audio player integrated into the book cover. Use of the audio narration is optional and the book can be read without the narration if a child chooses. Both have a speaker to allow the book to read out loud and an audio jack so a child can use headphones. Both Wonderbooks and Vox offer bilingual books. I anticipate purchasing several in Spanish, Russian, French, and other languages that would be reflective of our student population. The book audio is high quality, professional narration.
