The roles of a school library and librarian are evolving rapidly. The Lower School librarian works closely with classroom teachers to help students develop a love for reading and literacy skills that apply directly to the project work students are completing in science, social studies, and language arts. Technology is playing a major role in the evolution of school libraries, and a modern librarian’s role is expanding to include being a technology innovator. The librarian is a curator and teaches students how to sift through the vast amount of information that is available, how to evaluate the information, and how to use it effectively. The librarian and classroom teachers collaborate on Design Lab projects.
