Faculty Innovation Awards

We are excited to announce the winners of our Faculty Innovation Awards for the 2020-2021 School Year. Director of Development Elizabeth Smith says, "the Administrative Team was thrilled to have received such a large number of high-quality proposals, especially with the workload teachers had on their plates with remote learning. The panelists who read all of the entries and made the decisions found the entries very impressive."

Congratulations to Luca Antonucci, who is the recipient of this year’s EE Ford Upper School Faculty Innovation Award. Luca's grant was used to purchase two digital pianos, five MIDI keyboards, and Sibelius notation software. This will allow students to create and record their own digital compositions, play along with backing tracks, and practice performing on high-quality instruments.

Congratulations to Andrew Beal and new faculty member Julia Jennings, who are the recipients of the Lower & Middle School Faculty Innovation Award. Their grant will be used to implement a Yoga/Pilates/Mindfulness program within the Wellness curriculum for students in grades 6-8. The program will be woven into the existing Life Skills curriculum, will extend into afternoon clubs, and will also be incorporated into assembly scheduling and homeroom meetings.

Smith states, "this program is in its 9th year, and it is wonderful to see how important it has been to innovative programing and next level curriculum at Brimmer and May. Congratulations again to Luca, Andrew, and Julia and thank you to everyone else who spent time and energy on excellent proposals this year."
