Brimmer v Rashi

Despite some excellent plays in the field and a total of seven hits at the plate, the Middle School Softball Team fell to Rashi with a score of 11-2. Kelly Rimas ’22 started the game on the mound. She faced several strong offensive batters at the top of the Rashi order, who scored five runs in the first inning. Kelly went on to pitch two more innings without giving up any runs with the help of her supporting defensive cast. At first base, Amelia Simons ’24 caught two fly balls, turning a single-handed double play on the second of the two when she caught the runner who had prematurely left for second base. Kaylee Little ’23 held down the hot corner at third base with two fly ball catches and a cleanly fielded groundball that she followed with a laser like throw across the diamond to get the runner at first. In the middle infield, Emma Guevara ’23 at second base and Sadye Cheever ’23 at shortstop connected to make several outs at the keystone. In the third inning, Sydney Heff ’24 made her debut at second base and cleanly fielded the first grounder hit to her followed by a nice throw to first for the out. Sadye Cheever ‘23 stepped in to pitch the last three innings of the game, taking the Gators through six innings of softball. At the plate, Sarah Scott ’22 drove in Allison Rimas ’23 with a hit in the bottom of the first inning, and Emma Geuvara ’23 drove in Tahina Trias-Lizama ’22 in the bottom of the sixth to score the Gators two runs. The Gators look to improve their record of 1-1 in their next game against Dedham Country Day School next Thursday at home.
