CCA Scores 3 unanswered against the Gators

On a rainy fall day, the Gators hosted Covenant Christian Academy for their first home game of the season. Unfortunately, the outcome of the game was not as they had hoped. The two teams were quite evenly matched, and both had periods of possession and multiple scoring chances. However, CCA was able to capitalize on their chances and the Gators were not. The wet conditions did not help Brimmer’s goalkeeper, Theo Johnson, who had the wet ball slip through his gloves for CCA’s first goal. CCA’s other two goals came from defensive blunders due to poor marking in the area. Down 3 - 0 at half time, the Gators had a better second half, but CCA’s defense worked hard to keep the Gator’s chances to a minimum. Their goalkeeper saved all the shots that were put on target, including a great free kick from Brian Barerra that he hit over the wall with top spin and looked to be going into the bottom corner before the keeper’s dive diverted the ball out for a corner.
The Gators will have to bounce back with no rest day as they face Boston University Academy at Mt Ida on Wednesday. Kickoff is at 4:15.
