B&M WIN QUARTER-FINALS OVER GANN, 3-2

After Sunday's snow had been shoveled off the Orr Field by our incredibly dedicated AD and maintenance department, the Gators were able to host Gann Academy in the first round of the 2011 MBIL Playoffs. The game got underway, and Gann immediately pressed up the field and created the first chance of the game. Gann continued to pressure the Gators' goal, and the B&M defenders showed some early big-game nerves and failed to clear the ball from the area. Gann's striker hit a one-time shot that gave them a 1 - 0 lead. After the opening goal, the Gators started to put together some good attacking opportunities. Twelve minutes into the Game, the Gators earned their third corner kick. It looked like the Gann defense had cleared the ball, but Jeremy Guevara '13 made a late run, and he hit a beautiful shot, on the half volley, that sailed into the goal to tie the game. Both teams continued to put together good chances, but it was Gann who found the back of the net to regain the lead, which they took into halftime.

In the second half, the Gators came out with a new intensity and were able to put more pressure on the Gann goal. Less than ten minutes into the half, the Gators had a number of players in the box. Alex Pellegrino '12 received the ball and dribbled past his defender, but he had no clear shot. Alex passed to his right where Adrain Oliveira '13 was waiting. Adrian didn't hesitate and sent a shot on goal from close range to tie the game. With the game tied, the Gators were even more energized and continued to push up on offense. With ten minutes remaining in the game, Captain Tony Wright '13 made a run from the right side beating two Gann defenders with speed and deft moves of the ball. Tony hit a rocket of a shot into the top corner of the goal to give the Gators their first lead of the game. The Gators' defense held off a number of Gann attacks and were able to hold onto the one goal lead for the win.
The Gators will now face The Newman School in the MBIL Semi-final game. The game will take place at CSW's field on Wednesday, November 2, at 3:30 p.m.
