B&M BEAT CSW, 52-45

On Friday, January 20, the Varsity 2 boys’ traveled to Cambridge School of Weston for their second league game of the week and a rematch of their opening season game. The Gators took an early lead as Calvin Alexis, ‘14 who quickly scored 12 first half points. Calvin’s hot hand aided and abetted by Nate Cappuccino’s, ‘14 two 3-point shots and an outstanding double-pump layup by Dietrich Pultinas, ‘14 (truly a highlight film move) helped give Brimmer and May a five point half time lead.
The second half scoring was dominated by free throw shooting as the Gators made it to the free throw line for 21 shots and scored on 13 of them. Quinn Iuliano, ‘14 shot 9/10 in the half and 12/13 for the game. Calvin Alexis hit four free throws and 3 2-point shots in the second half, the last two of which sealed the win for his team.
Scoring for the game was as follows: Calvin Alex finished with a season-high 22 points; Quinn Iuliano with 17; Nate Cappuccino with 6; Keenan Iuliano, ‘15 with 3; and Stan Barlow, ‘13 and Dietrich Pultinas with 2 each.
Stan, Dietrich, and Calvin also pulled down numerous rebounds and provided significant help in breaking the CSW full court press and half court traps. They all played excellent defense throughout the game and blocked numerous shots--this team is very good at blocking shots and is fun to watch for that reason alone!-- as did Adam Luan, ‘15, Jacob Quiles, ‘16, and Aaron Yemane, ‘14 once again. This was truly another team win and a second game that was won at the end when it could have gone either way, but the Gators imposed their will and took the victory.
