GATORS EARN THRID WIN IN A ROW OVER LCA, 52-43

The Varsity 2 boys’ basketball team reeled off their third victory in a row against Lexington Christian Academy. Once again, the team started the game by digging itself in a hole with turnovers and found themselves down by a score of 11-2 early on; however, as half-time approached they had built a small lead but ended up going into the locker room tied at 26-26.
In the second half, the Gators doubled up on their first half score while holding LCA to just five field goals made. The team put together a shot-blocking display led by a resounding, off-the-backboard block by Quinn Iuliano early in the game. The Gators defense of Calvin Alexis, ’14 Stan Barlow, ’13 and Dietrich Pultinas, ’14 contributed many noteworthy blocks.
Dietrich Pultinas led the scoring for the Gators with 15 points and hauled down 12 rebounds. Dietrich dominated the offensive glass and was a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line. Stan Barlow had a big game on the glass and in the paint, recording 10 points and 12 rebounds. Quinn Iuliano, '14 led the team with 5 assists and added 14 points including 6 of 8 from the free throw line. Gator scoring included Calvin Alexis, and Keenan Iuliano, '15 with 5 points each, Jacob Quiles, '16 with two points and Nate Cappuccino, '14 with one point. Aaron Yemane, '14 and Adam Luan, '15 each contributed valuable minutes on the defensive end and grabbed some rebounds for the team.
