B&M WIN THEIR FINAL GAME AT THE BUZZER, 51-50

The Varsity 2 boys’ basketball team completed a challenging season on Friday afternoon at home with an all-too-exciting, 1-point win over the Dexter School. A back-and-forth first half saw Keenan Iuliano, '15 hit 4 of 6 3-pt shots and Nate Cappuccino, '14 go 2-for-2 from behind the 3-point arc to keep the Gators within 1 point of Dexter, who led 26-25 at the intermission.
In the second half, behind the scoring of Quinn Iuliano, '14 and Calvin Alexis, '14 and 2 more 3-point shots from Keenan Iuliano, the Gators opened up a 15 point lead by the 7:30 mark of the second half. The team played excellent man-to-man defense at the beginning of the half, lead by the efforts of Stan Barlow, '13, Dietrich Pultinas, '14, and Aaron Yemane, '14.

As the team incurred some foul trouble and had a spate of turnovers, the Dexter squad closed the margin as the clock moved into its final minute. With 10 seconds left, Dexter stole the ball and ran out for the tying basket at 50-50, but their too aggressive defense led to a foul at the 5.4 second mark. Quinn Iuliano hit the first free throw in a 1-and-1 situation to put the Gators ahead but he missed the second one and Dexter called time out on their side of the floor. With just 4 seconds left on the clock, the Gators applied a stifling defense that forced the Dexter team to throw up a desperation shot that fell short of the basket and the victory fell to the home team.
Jeremy Guevara, '13, Adam Luan, '15, and Jacob Quiles, '16 all made contributions to this team during the season and helped the team have the success it had in putting up its 8 wins.
