We welcome two new Trustees!

Brimmer and May welcomes two new Board of Trustee members—both Alumni!

David Kazis ‘02
David is thrilled to be Brimmer and May’s very first male Alumni to be elected to the Board of Trustees. It is appropriate that David hold this distinction as he is the true definition of a Brimmer and May “lifer.” Not only did he spend 13 years as a student at Brimmer and May, he has been very active in the School community since his graduation, volunteering for his alma mater and lending his support. He has been a member of the Alumni Board for years and most recently was the Co-President of the Alumni Board during the 2011-2012 school year.

David works as the Community Outreach and Corporations Technology Specialist for Secretary of State William Galvin’s Office. He has held several other positions in the public policy and public health arenas. Before moving to his current position he worked as Special Assistant to the Executive Director at Harvard University’s School of Public Health. David has also worked as a Census Specialist and as a Research Specialist for the British Parliament.

David holds a BA in Political Science, Summa Cum Laude, from Boston University. He also holds a MSc. from the London School of Economics. David sees one of his major roles as helping with outreach and programing aimed at co-ed alumni in the classes of 1997-to the present.

Mahlet Woldemariam ‘95
Mahlet arrived at Brimmer and May in 9th grade after moving to Massachusetts with her family from Ethiopia. Mahlet credits Brimmer and May for her critical thinking skills and her lifetime interest in science and art. Like David, Mahlet has never lost touch with Brimmer and May and has been an active volunteer and attendee of alumni events since her graduation. Most recently she shared the Co-President role of the Alumni Board with David.

Mahlet has had a very successful career at several pharmaceutical companies with over 12 years of experience as a project manager in drug development. She actually spoke to Brimmer and May students about this complicated process and her interest in public health as part of last year’s Bissell Grogan Symposium on Global Health.

Currently, Mahlet serves as a Project Manager for Novartis. Previously, she was a Clinical Research Scientist also at Novartis and a Clinical Trials Manager at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. She has also held positions at Boston Scientific, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Children’s Hospital of Boston.

Mahlet holds a BS in Biology and Studio Art from Simmons College, a MS in Health Policy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and is a candidate for an MBA from Simmons School of Management.
