Boys' Thirds @ The Fessenden School

After leading 17-15 at the half and holding a lead through 3/4 of the game, the Thirds Boys took a tough loss at Fessenden 40 - 33. Unable to connect on free throws and shots in the paint, the Gators fell behind by as much as ten points with 3 minutes to go and staged a ferocious comeback fueled by two baskets off of steals from Ethan Eastwood '18 and Mark Asch '18 and a 3-point shot from Grant Iuliano '18 that made it a one-possession game with less than a minute to go. However, after a tough shot opportunity on the offensive end failed to produce a basket and a charge-nearly taken on the defensive end led to a conventional 3-point play for Fessenden, the Gators found themselves unable to recover from a 6-point deficit. The team once again played some tenacious and effective man-to-man defense led by Tyler Best '18, Dylan Rigol '18, and Matthew Hastings '18 who had 3 steals. On offense Mark Asch once again led the team in scoring with 12 points and 3 rebounds. Grant Iuliano was 3 for 6 from behind the 3-point arc and totaled 11 points, while Ethan Eastwood had 8 points, 6 from behind the charity stripe. Matthew Hastings rounded out the scoring with 2 points on a skillfully executed reverse lay-up in traffic. Others contributing solid overall play were David Moskowitz '18, Jack Donnelly '18, Michael Hastings '18 and Henry Stought '18.
