What are you doing currently for a profession?
I am currently working as Communication Manager at EF Education in London. EF is the world’s largest international education company, operating over 400 schools and offices in over 50 countries, with a network of more than 30,000 teachers and staff. As part of EF International Language School’s Central Operations Team in London, I am responsible for making sure that our nine schools have consistent, correct information about general procedures. I also make sure that the communication between the U.K. schools and the EF sales offices around the world works efficiently and is up-to-date. Beside this, I am a Project Manager for several ongoing projects in the U.K.
What led you to attend Brimmer and May?
I moved to Boston from Sweden in 2001 due to my father’s job, and we wanted a good school. After having visited a few schools in the western suburbs, we had the best impression of Brimmer and May, and I was lucky to be accepted. I attended junior and senior years and achieved very good grades—honors in my junior year, high honors in my senior year. The grades enabled me to get in to one of Europe’s best business schools.
What are your stand-out memories of your time at Brimmer and May?
The education I received at Brimmer and May was excellent. The dedicated and knowledgeable teachers made sure I got the most out of every class I took. Being a small school, every student got the attention he or she needed, including myself. The teachers knew my strengths and weaknesses and could push me when needed. They were all very knowledgeable, interested, dedicated, and they challenged me. It was also great fun to study at Brimmer and May—there was always something you could engage in.
How did Brimmer and May prepare you for your career?
The main skill I took with me from my years at Brimmer and May is time management. Being part of the soccer and tennis teams, musicals, and plays, as well as taking AP courses and receiving high honors, meant I had to learn how to plan my time. This was very useful to me at my university, and also helps me in my career.
