Varsity Baseball @ Gann Academy

The Gators defeated Gann Academy, 2-1, in a great pitcher’s duel. Gann’s pitcher was very strong, only giving up 2 hits over 7 innings and struck out 12 batters. Quinn Iuliano '14 was equally impressive as he pitched 7 strong innings, giving up only 1 run on two hits and struck out 7. The game was tied 1-1 going into the top of the 7th inning. Andrew Kassis '15 started the inning off by reaching base safely on a throwing error, which advanced him to second base before being moved along to third on a base hit from Mike Gordon '16. Gordon then got himself into scoring position as he stole second base. As the next two Gators went out without advancing the runners, Matthew Hastings '18 came to the plate with two outs. Hastings put together a great at-bat before driving a ball to left field, scoring Kassis. Kassis’ run proved to be the game-winning run as Quinn Iuliano retired Gann’s batters in order to end the game.
