Varsity Cross Country @ CH-CH

Competing against eight teams in a field of over 120 runners, Varsity Cross Country handily earned its second straight MBIL victory last Thursday at Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall. Benjamin Teixeira ’19 earned an overall third place finish, running shoulder to shoulder with veteran Charles Li ’17, who finished just one second behind the young newcomer. Lachlan Davidson ’17 clinched the third team score with a new personal record, finishing the challenging 3.1-mile course in just 20:14. Connor Reif ’19 continued to dig deep, outpacing most of the field. Fighting through a bruised ankle, Liam Conklin ’19 grabbed the fifth team spot, securing the Gator victory. Dashaun Simon ’17 crossed the finish shortly thereafter, followed by strong finishes from Nate Friedman ’16 and Jeff Wu ’18. In only the second race of her racing career, Kate Eastwood ’16 came in at 24:48, seventh out of 41 girls racing, and besting over 70 runners.
