Class of 2025 by the Numbers & Then Some

Joe Iuliano, Assistant Head of Academic Affairs

Through its educational aesthetic, applied during the past 1 to 13 years, depending on the grade of enrollment, for the Class of 2025, Brimmer and May has been preparing the canvas (instilling the Core Values), choosing the colors (inspiring interests and promoting passions), and arcing its paint brush in purposeful paths (delivering instruction and motivating learning) to create a tableau that is personalized, student-centered, and mission driven for our 45 graduates and 350 PK-12 students. While the School offers the tools, it is the students themselves who are the essential substance, conceptual matter, and intellectual fundament in this educational process.

That being said, we had a whole lot of that last sentence above to work with in the Class of 2025. Forget for a moment where they are going and let’s look at where they have been, noting that all 45 graduates have not been in the Upper School for the full 4 years:

Number of Program Diplomas (CAP, GSP, STEAM) earned: 25*
Number of members of the Scholar Society: 28
Number of End-of-Year Grades earning Honor Roll Status: 44
Number of End-of-Year Grades earning High Honor Roll Status: 62
Number of Honors Distinctions earned: 108
Number of AP Courses taken: 188
*more than a half dozen of these were earned with Distinction

Where has this class been? They have been at work in the ‘educational art studio’ that is this school. They are a very impressive lot, not only for their academic excellence but for their involvement in the community as Peer Tutors, Gator-Aide Mentors, Admissions Tour Guides, club and activity founders and leaders, team sports captains, league championship winners, SISAL and Scholastic Art Award Winners, UPenn Social Innovators, Robotics Team Members, Student Senate Representatives and Leaders, Model UN delegates, editors and writers for a nationally recognized student newspaper, The Gator. They have starred, ensembles and crewed four years of plays and musicals, performed at the annual Coffee Houses, and lent their talents to the elementary students at the Sumner School. They have travelled domestically and internationally and represented the School and the School’s Core Values as they pursued their passions, prepared for post-secondary studies, and placed themselves firmly in the School community and the world.

The numbers above speak volumes for our students’ intellectual pursuits and accomplishments. The students themselves speak volumes for their number, 45, who have successfully rendered themselves in their own best image as they begin their journey as lifelong learners who are informed, engaged, and ethical citizens and leaders in our diverse world. Bravo, Class of 2025!
