Gators lose a heartbreaker in overtime! Show much Improvement

Gator Varsity Girls played Gann Academy in an exciting game on 5/22/2022. Once again, due to injuries, illness, and Seniors racing in late from AP exams, Gators played the game 9vs9. Rowida Kissim stepped into the goal having never once put on goalie gear. She was a natural and made 11 saves!! The game was a perfect matchup that forced Gators into a double overtime. Gann ended up taking the win with a final score of 15-14. Gators  defense played tough and never gave up. Players played wherever they were needed  and  midfielders would move to attack just to catch their breath. The Gator girls gave everything they had until that final whistle blew. Although they did not walk away with the win, the players walked off the field knowing they played an incredible game. Senior Ayanna Jefferson was a leader on defense with Senior Leah Bell, Sophomore Maggie Clifford, Junior Grace Pappas, and Junior Rachel Sobel. They marked Gann’s players, tracked the runs, double teamed them at the eight and committed very few fouls in the process. Gator offense was lead by seventh grader Hadley Reardon with five goals, five assists and countless battles won on the ground balls. Junior Haleigh Jacob’s stepped up in an amazing way with four goals and one assist. Senior Iris Bishins scored three goals and got one assist, seventh grader Lucie Shimamura put forth incredible effort and scored one beautiful goal and made one assist, senior Leah Bell scored one goal. Ayanna Jefferson and Maggie Clifford both got an assist each. Seventh grader Alexa Dykeman moved to the midfield and impressed everyone with her speed and endurance. Mae Gordon and Anna Lull put forth great effort on attack. Well done Gators!
