Gators take on undefeated NCDS

The MS Gators Green team had a tough match up for their first game of the season, facing off against a so far undefeated Newton Country Day. Newton ran a fast-paced offense in the first half, putting themselves on the board right away and catching Brimmer off guard. Gators struggled to put the ball in the hoop for the first several minutes of play as well as getting their feet moving on defense. By halftime, Newton was up by double digits. However, in the second half, Brimmer came out with a bit more steam and Maya Thompson managed to draw a foul on a hard drive to the basket. She made both free throws. As the Gators started to settle in, Poli Tsiotos swished a three from the deep left corner off a quick screen set by Hadley Reardon and a beautiful assist from Alexa Dykeman. Although the Gators was unable to minimize Newton’s lead, the team managed to maintain their composure, lift each other up, and play as a unit. Poli Tsiotos and Maya Thompson both finished with 7 points.
