Brimmer and May’s 24-25 AP Scholars

Joseph Iuliano, Assistant Head of Academic Affairs

Brimmer and May’s Upper School offers 19 Advanced Placement® (AP) courses in the visual arts, English,  mathematics, social sciences, science, technology, and world languages. In the second half of the summer after the test scores has been released for last spring’s AP exams and portfolios, College Board announces the students who earned AP Scholars designations at the school. For Brimmer and May, this includes students in the class of 2025 who have graduated and students in the classes of 2026 and 2027 who are currently in our junior and senior classes. Students named AP Scholars have taken at least 3 AP exams and earned at least a score of 3 on each of them over the course of their high school careers. To recognize achievement beyond this level, College Board award AP Scholar status in two additional categories: AP Scholar with Honors and AP Scholar with Distinction. Our students earned recognition for their results on the spring 2025 (and previous) AP exams in all three AP Scholar categories:

AP Scholar — Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

AP Scholar with Honors — Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams

AP Scholar with Distinction — Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the College Board has recognized 23 Brimmer and May Upper School students as AP Scholars; this represents a 35% increase in students earning awards over the previous year. Congratulations are extended to the following students:

Occasionally, in pursuit of specific learning interests, as well as advanced placement/college credit, students may take additional AP exams for courses they have pursued independently outside of school. Overall, for the 2024-2025 school, the average score our 23 scholars earned was 3.85 on a total of 113 exams. Students earned AP Scholar status for their efforts on as few as 3 and as many as 8 AP exams in total.
