Learning about $ in Dollar Scholars Club

Brimmer’s Lower School Dollar Scholars Club teaches students about money management, with a goal of giving students a strong foundation in financial literacy. The Club covers topics likes earning, saving, spending, budgeting, giving, advertisements, and entrepreneurship— with their very own "Shark Tank."

Recently, the club focused on the importance of saving by reading and discussing an adaptation of Aesop’s fable, The Grasshopper and the Ant. Students learned about the trade-offs between satisfying today’s “wants” and planning for the future. They used the fable to examine their own behavior and decisions about saving and how interest payments provide an incentive to save.
As an inclusive private school community, Brimmer welcomes students who will increase the diversity of our school.
