Prison Book Program

Congratulations to the Prison Book Program, Brimmer's new community service initiative, for receiving a Special Recognition Award and Grant from the Parents' Independent School Network! The Prison Book Program is an organization based in Quincy which encourages literacy and reduces recidivism by providing books, dictionaries, and textbooks to incarcerated people nationwide. Once a month, Brimmer volunteers help by sorting through letters from prisoners, then packaging and invoicing their requested books.

Chloe Berlin '20 introduced the program to the Brimmer community earlier this year. She writes: "It is a poignant experience. Despite having no face-to-face contact with incarcerated people, their letters illuminate the faces of those so often forgotten in our culture. Their gratitude shines through."
As an inclusive private school community, Brimmer welcomes students who will increase the diversity of our school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, or any other characteristic protected from discrimination under state or federal law, in the administration of our educational policies, admissions practices, financial aid decisions, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
