Math With Grade 6

In math with Ms. Jennings, 6th graders have been learning how to multiply and divide with fractions and mixed numbers. As a way to apply these skills to the real world, students learned how to scale recipes to serve large or small groups, depending on the base recipe. Students helped Chef Craig Roman calculate his brownie and cake recipes to serve the whole school. They made about 400 extra chocolatey brownies and 100 pieces of vegan cake to serve at a Friday lunch.

Head of Middle School Carl Vallely was visiting during this math class and he says, " It was a wonderful lesson that brought the concepts the students have been studying to life in a hands-on way!"
