Down by 4 Goals Gators storm back to tie at Homecoming

The Brimmer Gators hosted Bradford Christian Academy on a beautiful Saturday morning for the Brimmer and May homecoming. The Gators were excited to play in front of 200 plus fans. The excitement was hard for the Gators to contain and led to BCA putting away a goal with less than three minutes into the game. The Gators tried to battle back but were unsuccessful as three minutes later BCA struck again. Despite a few position changes, BCA continued to put pressure on the Gators defense and put two more goals away making the score 4-0 at the half.
At halftime the Gators realized that they were not playing their best soccer and needed to put the excitement of homecoming out of their heads. Five minutes into the second half Elisabeth Fitzgerald 22’ buried one past the BCA goalkeeper to spark the Gators momentum. Kaylee Little 23’ battled through the BCA midfielders to place one in the upper 90 to make the score 4-2. A BCA handball in the box gave the Gators another chance to score yet another goal of the half as Kaylee Little 23’ place the PK past the BCA goalkeeper. The score was 4-3 BCA. With just seconds left in the game Angeline Nur Dervisevic 21’ chipped the BCA goalkeeper from about 20 yards out to tie the game 4-4 and save the Gators from another loss. Breanna Durand 20’, Hanna Spivak 20’, Emma Guevara 23’ and Marianne Alagos 21’ all played solid defense in the second half and proved why they are a force to be reckoned with. Claire Masterson 20’ made five saves.
The Gators add their first tie of the season making their record 7-2-1 and head to Montrose School on October 24th for yet another league battle.
