BRIMMER AND MAY BOYS' VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM WINS PRESTIGIOUS ST. SEBASTIAN'S HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT FOR 2nd YEAR RUNNING
For the second year running the Brimmer and May Varsity Boys' Basketball team won the prestigious St. Sebastian's Holiday tournament. In there first game the Gators defeated rival Nobles and Greenough 65-58. Brimmer was carried by senior Eric Alleyne's 29 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Junior Christopher Sherwood added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Gators. Brimmer and May received great defensive play off the bench from junior Olivier Nazon, 5 rebounds, senior Patrick Pierre-Victor who had 5rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block as well as junior Rodney Petion 2 steals and 3 rebounds.
In the second game the Gators defeated class B foe Tabor Academy 66 to 38.
The Gators came out red hot in this game and had 3 players in double figures in scoring. Junior Chris Sherwood paced the Gators with 17 points (including 2 dunks) and 5 rebounds. Junior Jared Fay scored 12 points and added 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Senior Derek Retos played a terrific all around game with 11 points, 5 steals, 3 assists and 3 rebounds. Senior Zachary Mark gave the Gators inspired play off the bench with 2 points, 2 rebounds and a
tremendous defensive effort.
The Gators saved the best for last, crushing the Holderness School of Plymouth, NH, in the finals by a margin of 79 to 30. The starting backcourt of Retos and Alleyne combined for 42 points, out scoring Holderness by themselves.
Senior Troy Robinson patrolled the glass grabbing 11 rebounds. Jared Fay played a great all around game with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Olivier Nazon grabbed a season high 8 rebounds in the game. Patrick Pierre-Victor, who was an unsung hero all weekend, played a great game again in the finals tearing down 7 rebounds and blocking 3 shots.
In addition to bringing home the championship the following players from Brimmer and May were recognized individually: Chris Sherwood and Eric Alleyne were named to the All Tournament Team and Derek Retos was name Tournament MVP.
