JV SOFTBALL BETTERS BEAVER, 9-8

The Brimmer and May junior varsity softball team opened their season with a, 9-8, win over visiting Beaver Country Day yesterday afternoon.Captain Chardon Brooks pitched a solid seven innings, allowing eight runs, giving up four walks and striking out eight. Brooks went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and scored two runs. Xiomara Nunez played great behind the plate and went 2-3 at bat. Nunez scored two runs and also had an RBI. Captain Eugenie Planche went 0-1 at the plate with three walks. Planche also scored two runs. Leah Moskowitz went 0-3 at the plate but was walked in the 4th inning and came around to score the seventh run. Alina Fisher went 1-1 at the plate with a single. Maya Stevenson played solid defense at 1st base. Stevenson went 2-2 at the plate with two singles and a run. Erica Mueffelmann plated solid defense in both left field and at shortstop. She went 1-1, hit a single and walked twice. Mueffelmann was knocked in by Lilly Sisson with a game winning run. Sisson went 1-3 at the plate and had two RBI's. The Gators played good defense throughout the game but were toughest in the 7th inning making the third out with runners in scoring position. Good defense was also played by Katie Santin, Carolyn Fahrner, Kaitlyn Murphy, Susanna Calhoun and Victoria Farina. Our next game is next Thursday, 4/13/11 at Newton Country Day School (DCDS).
