Located in Almy Academic Center, the Anne C. Reenstierna Library Learning Commons provides resources for academic research and independent reading. In addition to offering a wide selection of titles in literature and nonfiction, the library provides access to a growing collection of electronic books, online databases of reference works and journal articles and a subscription to Questia School - an online library of over 15,000 full-text titles. Laptop computers are available for student use. The Learning Commons extends to an outdoor space when the weather is nice.
The library program seeks to engage students in experiences that foster a love of reading, offer exposure to the world of ideas, and develop the skills and critical thinking needed to be successful in finding, evaluating, and using information. These are the building blocks that create life-long learners.
In addition to library and research support, Middle and Upper School students have access to the Math Lab, the Writing Center, and the Learning Center for additional academic support and enrichment. The Learning Center is staffed by Brimmer faculty and provides help with math, writing, and organization during study halls and after school.
While a traditional library caters to individual learning and quiet work, the space provides multiple zones for both collaborative and quiet work. As libraries and learning continue to evolve, our updated Library Learning Commons space and program allows us to provide highly relevant and useful services to our students and community.
