Winterim 2025

Experiential Learning

It’s a big world. On their way to becoming global citizens, Brimmer students engage with the world through Winterim, an experiential, cultural, and service learning program. Students choose from among several international or domestic programs, such as traveling to Iceland to learn about Viking history; learning from and connecting with students in China; or experiencing London and Paris in an exploration of social justice in the Victorian age and today.

A hallmark of Brimmer’s curriculum and a favorite among students, what makes this biennial program so unique is that the Winterim experience begins in the classroom. Prior to departure, students and faculty meet to research their upcoming destinations, build cohesive travel groups, and define the curricular and cultural context for their chosen program. This level of advanced preparation lays the groundwork for truly meaningful travel experiences.
