Planned Giving

Bequests are gifts left through a will. Making a bequest via a will is quite simple. Charitable gifts made by bequests are not taxed as part of the estate. Brimmer and May suggests the following language to incorporate a bequest into a will. “I give (describe type of bequest here) to the Brimmer and May School, 69 Middlesex Road, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.”

Sometimes called planned or tax deferred gifts, these giving options offer a way to make a significant gift to Brimmer and May and at the same time provide for family and loved ones’ futures. Often donors are able to increase their current income as well as to plan for a future gift to Brimmer and May.

Receive Income For Life- Charitable Gift Annuity
In a charitable gift annuity, Brimmer and May agrees to pay one or two people, chosen by the donor, a fixed sum of money each year for life in exchange for a gift of cash, securities, or other assets. The older these people are at the time of the gift, the greater the amount of annual income. A portion of each payment is tax–free, and the donor receives a charitable deduction. The Development Office will be glad to provide specific calculations that are based on one’s personal interests and financial situation.
