Brimmer Athletes Play Summer Baseball

Brimmer Baseball Players Hit the Diamond in the Summertime

Four Brimmer Varsity Baseball Team members are playing baseball during the summer. Gabe Bryan '19 is playing in the Newton Twi-lite League (ages 16-19), Matthew Hastings '18 is playing for the GBG Hawks 17U Team, Grant Iuliano '18 is playing for the Newton Post 440 American Legion Team, and Dylan Rigol '18 is playing for the Needham Post 14 American Legion Team. Matthew's team plays tournaments and showcases against strong competition from around New England. He's played in the outfield for his team at Rhode Island College, Brown and Northeastern. Grant was selected to play for the Metro Team in the baseball showcase of the Summer 2017 Bay State Games. Six teams, with 25 players each, participated representing all parts of the state. Grant's team played a game each day against another regional team, and the top three teams earned gold, silver, or bronze medals. While Grant's team did not medal, he became the first Brimmer athlete to be selected to play baseball in the Bay State Games.

Sadye Cheever '23 is playing summer baseball with the Boston Slammers, an all-girls baseball team. She traveled to Rockford, Illinois, with the team for an all-girls national baseball tournament run by Baseball for All. Two hundred girls from all over the country were there—all who love baseball. The Boston Slammers won their division championship against the East Bay Oaks (from Oakland, CA) to become national champions!
