October Library Update

Elyse Seltzer, Supervisor of the PK-12 Libraries

In October we continued our celebration of Latinx Heritage month adding some of our Latinx Affinity leaders to our spotlighted community members. We also observed Indigenous People’s Day. Students celebrated their freedom to read with some (not) banned (here) books.

For 6th graders we encourage the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award Nominees list. If students read five of the books on the list, they can vote for a winner in the spring. With the help of a 6th grade reading period, I made an unboxing video of the books on the list. You can watch it on our new Accessit Library page.

For 9th graders I am teaming up with Director of Academic Services Karen Bernanke to help students explore our new Explora database through EBSCO using an online escape the room game while practicing positive group work skills as they get ready to start some group work in World History.

We are getting ready for November indigenous Peoples Month.
As an inclusive private school community, Brimmer welcomes students who will increase the diversity of our school.
